School Games Summer Championships

On Friday 30th June, Braunstone Frith took a Year 6 girls cricket team to the Leicestershire and Rutland School Games Summer Championships. The event took place at Uppingham School Sports Centre.

The event is the pinnacle of primary level school sport and saw almost 1000 pupils from over 60 schools battle it out for glory, with teams having progressed from earlier competitions to represent their partnership area, which for Braunstone Frith is West Leicester.

Even though the girls didn't manage to win a game (having lost one game by just a single run), they gave it a spirited effort on the day, with some big sixes, sharp catches and some dynamic teamwork.

The whole day capped off a great adventure for the girls and the act of reaching the championships and taking part provided the team and school with priceless competition experience. Success breeds success and we hope there is much more of it to come in the years ahead!
