Dear Parent/Carer,

Continued Child Care Provision for Key Workers

The full detail of the government’s proposal has now been published.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision

There are a number of areas of employment included, that were not included yesterday. However if you believe you are in this category it requires that you confirm with your employer that you are necessary and that you have no other means of childcare. Another means of childcare would be a partner not on the keyworker list or an adult sibling.

We have been asked to make clear that it is very important that we minimise the number of children in school. This is because we will be looking after the children of NHS workers. If their children become infected, then they cannot attend work. The more children we have, the more likely this is to happen. It is also more likely that your child may become infected and therefore you would have to self-isolate for 14 days. In order to minimise the chance of transmission, we are required to send children home immediately if they are displaying symptoms with the instruction that the whole household need to self-isolate.

We have made provision for you to specify a limited number of days that you require this childcare. Headteachers have been asked to use their judgement should we have too many children needing care.

Braunstone Frith Primary School has made extensive plans for remote learning and we want to reassure all parents that we will continue to support you in educating your child at home.

We thank all parents and carers for your support in these challenging times. By us all working together in the best way, we will beat this challenge.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs A Smith
Headteacher
