Western Park had a great time learning about Chinese New Year! We have learnt about the Chinese zodiac, dragon and lion dances, tried kicking jianzi (Chinese shuttlecock), and even got to try some Chinese snacks (Diaoyu Shao: a fish-shaped cake filled with rice cake and red beans)! We also saw a pan chang knot, which is a knot given to others on Lunar New Year to represent longevity and good luck.

On Friday 22 November we celebrated the diverse culture of our Braunstone Frith Primary Academy community in this year’s Cultural Day.
Pupils were invited to wear clothes which represent their culture’s beliefs, customs, traditions and values.

Our whole school came together on Monday 11 November to commemorate those who have served and fallen by observing a two minute silence. Before the reflective period of silence pupils from each age group laid handmade wreaths by our Tree of Remembrance. All pupils showed great respect.
