Braunstone Frith Primary School’s School Council is well established. The School Council consists of two children from each class from years 1 to 6. The role of the school council is shared with the children at the start of the autumn term. The children then nominate themselves as a possible candidate to be a representative for their class. A boy and a girl are elected as class representatives. There is an expectation that the children, who nominate themselves, can give reasons as to why they would make a positive contribution to the school and how they would represent their class.

The school council currently meet on a regular basis with Miss Grant-Dovey where they discuss issues that the children feel are important. They also bring ideas to develop and enhance the school for both present and future pupils. For the academic year 2018/2019, the school council will focus on anti-bullying and the theme of’No Outsiders’.

The school council have been traditionally been involved in supporting the efforts of various fundraising events, such as ‘Children in Need’ and ‘Save the Children’. They have also collected Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers and purchased more playground equipment for both key stages.

One of the council’s main achievements was choosing the new playground equipment for the KS1 and KS2 playgrounds. In previous years they secured sponsorship from ‘Kirby & West’ in order to purchase a professional sports kit for our football team.
